Dynamic Planet

Dynamic Planet focuses on freshwater, including its movement, storage, and effect on the surrounding Earth.

Rocks and Minerals

This course provides a detailed description of rocks and minerals for Science Olympiad competitions. It focuses on specimen identification, rock-forming processes, crystal structures, and much more.

Thermodynamics

This is a challenging course that explores the relationship between heat, energy, temperature, and work. It will cover heavy content, ranging from basic gas laws to heat transfer to the laws of thermodynamics.

Meteorology

Meteorology: Severe Storms is a thorough course in which you will learn about the conditions that trigger atmospheric phenomenon such as tornadoes, supercells, and hurricanes.

Circuit Lab

An introduction to Circuit Lab including electrostatics, DC circuit theory, digital logic, and circuit problem-solving, with hands-on breadboard and multimeter skills.

Crime Busters

Introduction to forensic science and crime scene investigation, covering topics in chemistry, biology, and using logic to solve a crime.

Food Science

Introduction of the chemistry, laboratory techniques, and physical principles used in analyzing and producing dairy products through its ingredients, structural evaluation, and quantitative mass testing.

Disease Detectives

Participants will use their investigative skills in the scientific study of disease, injury, health, and disability in populations or groups of people.

Experimental Design

Understand how to design, conduct, and analyze a simple experiment.

Introduction of basic genetic mechanisms and cell biology necessary for the event.

Codebusters

Welcome to Codebusters! This is a three person event where teams will cryptanalyze and decode encrypted messages using cryptanalysis techniques for historical and modern advanced ciphers.

Designer Genes

This course provides a detailed understanding of genetics, including Mendelian genetics, evolutionary and population genetics, molecular genetics, and biotechnology to help students prepare for the Designer Genes event.

Astronomy

An introduction to Astronomy including conceptual topics, data analysis and inferences, astrophysics calculations, and event tips.

Chemistry Lab

Introduction to general chemistry, bonding and structure, chemical reaction, state of matter, gases, equilibrium, acid and base, thermochemistry, and kinetics.

Forensics

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of crime scene investigation through the analysis of evidence to determine the identity of a suspect.

Mission Possible

In this event, competitors build a Rube Goldberg machine, utilize creative thinking alongside scientific reasoning to create a twelve action sequence of events, and learn the basics of physics and mechanical engineering along the way.

Protein Modeling

This course provides a basic introduction to the Protein Modeling event, with topics including the chemical basis of protein folding and structure, information on this year’s specific protein, and how to use Jmol JUDE.

Boomilever

Students will learn how to design, build, test, and improve a Science Olympiad Boomilever. The course focuses on structural efficiency, material choice, construction accuracy, and competition preparation.

Roller Coaster

In this course, students will learn how to design, build, and optimize a roller coaster that guides a ball as close as possible to a given target time.  

Ping Pong Parachute

This course is an introduction to the Science Olympiad event Ping Pong Parachute, in which students will learn the basics of a rocket and parachute system, and learn how to build, test, and redesign their builds.

Scrambler

Introduction to the engineering principles behind scrambler, including vehicle design, propulsion systems, braking mechanisms, testing, competition preparation, and more.

Hovercraft

Students will learn how to design, build, and optimize a Hovercraft for Science Olympiad competition. The course focuses on how to compete in Hovercraft and all the science behind each major part.
